Copy a file from a FTP server to the router’s flash

R1# copy ftp: flash:

Display the contents of flash memory

R1# show flash

Specify the OS file the device should use the next time it boots:

R1# boot system filepath

Display the file systems of the device

R1# show file systems

Configure the FTP username on the device:

R1# ip ftp username username

Configure the FTP password on the device

R1# ip ftp password password

File types:

  • opaque : File system type that represent logical systems used for internal functions.
  • network: File system type that represents external file systems, for example FTP/TFTP
  • nvram: File system used for the device’s internal NVRAM
